One Tagaytay Place

One Tagaytay Place may not be known to many, since the Genesis-managed hotel is located at the other ned of Aguinaldo Highway, on the way to Highlands. And there's really no clear signboard. So when we were looking for the hotel, we were keeping our eyes open.

In fact, the hotel's facade is not the lobby, but a cluster of shops that included 7-Eleven. It is just near the T-House. You go inside the compound to reach their driveway that leads to the reception.

We chose to stay in One Tagaytay Place because of its price. The rooms cost P2,800 net with breakfast already. And since it's managed by Genesis (think Astoria, Misibis, St. Ellis, etc), I knew it wouldn't be a disappointment. At least it was new.

The lobby was nothing special, and the hotel looked more like a business hotel. There was a restaurant beside the reception that had no guests. I saw some posters that there was a steakhouse in the 3rd floor deck.

The rooms were small, but very well appointed. There was a balcony that gives a view of the lake, not the volcano, if you're in the upper floors. There was free wifi as well. I found the beds very comfortable, and thus, the money we spent was worth it. The bathroom was also small, but it was spotless. They really could have made the room bigger, and it would be perfect. I heard that the place was a condotel, so, it meant that there were permanent residents. I wonder what the suites looked like.

Finally, the pool. Yes, there was a small infinity pool on the top floor. It was pleasant since it views you a view of the valley below. There weren't any guests also, so we had a great time spending our morning there, just relaxing.

Although the hotel passed our standards in amenities and cleanliness, the most notable thing is their service. We were greeted as soon as we stepped out of our car, escorted to the reception without being too pushy. All their staff members were friendly, warm and accommodating. Indeed, great service does spell the difference, and One Tagaytay Place did make that happen.
