Harolds Hotel Cebu: The Way It Should Be

I discovered the latest hotel I am raving about after a last minute reservation with Agoda. Harolds (I mistook it for Harrods) is centrally located in Gorordo Avenue. I knew it was a business hotel and initially, I thought it was just any other new business hotel.

Before Harolds, I usually hotel hopped in Cebu depending on my budget. We rent an apartment in Cebu, but sometimes, I get to spend for a hotel for work. What took me in was the low cost of Harolds in Agoda. The rate: P2,800 all in with breakfast for a standard room.

As soon as I stepped in the lobby, I was impressed. But I wasn't keeping my hopes up. The tagline of Harolds is simply this: The Way It Should Be. I really liked their tagline, and this excited me as the staff welcomed us with attentive service.

We actually booked two rooms last minute. We checked in at 8PM, and thus, the hotel was already fully booked. So they offered us an upgrade to a Junior Suite. We were led to the Deluxe Room first, where two of my colleagues checked in.

At P2,800, this was probably the best hotel deal I have made in the country. The room rivaled those of five star hotels. The bathroom even had those glass walls. If this was the standard room, I wondered what the suite looked like.

We rushed to the top floor and entered the suite. Of course, we were all smiles. The upgrade turned out to be a one bedroom suite probably around 60 sq. meters in size. It reminded me of my condominium in Manila.

The living area was comfortable, and the decor was not tacky. It was simple, modern and cozy. The bedroom is separated by a sliding door. It revealed an inviting queen sized bed.

And I want to skip the timeline, and tell all of you that their beds are indeed very comfortable. In fact, I have never slept well in a bed like this for a long time. And I practically live in hotels as I travel every week! We were raving about the beds, that we even asked for the brand of the mattress and linen.

I read from Agoda that the rooftop restaurant and bar presented fabulous views of Cebu City, so after getting over our rooms (again, for only P2,800), we rushed up to the top. And this was what we saw.

The name of the roof deck was Highlights. It was a bad name, but the place was amazing especially at night. During the day, it can be very relaxing, to the point that I prefer to work on the roof deck more than in my room. We spent the rest of the evening with rounds of drinks.

Harolds Cebu is indeed my favorite hotel in Cebu. I highly recommend that you book your stay via Agoda, since their published rate is P4,400 for a standard room. With Agoda, you save almost 40%, which makes it a real deal. Harolds does live up to its promise. It is the way a business hotel should be.

  3. Okay, first off, this is by far the best travel blog I've ever read!

One can really feel the sincerity in the way you write and your English is impeccable!

One thing though, my family and I are so jealous - how can one travel to so may places?!
