Vista Aplaya Anilao

I was all over Anilao last year. I fell in love with the place, that I even wanted to build a resort there. I was actually inspired by the many small resorts or houses for rent in the area. One of those inspiring family run resorts was Vista Aplaya.

I was looking for a house to rent in Anilao for a company planning session. I needed a place for 16 people, so it was hard to look for a house big enough to comfortably accommodate all of us. So, I pushed further on and searched for small resorts instead. This was how I ended up in Vista Aplaya.

With a total of 6 rooms, they were perfect for our group. The rooms had a traditional design, but was well-kept. The resort had a Filipino inspired design with rooms in thatched nipa roofs and classic sliding capiz windows.

The resort may not have a modern feel, but it was just that lack of sophistication and luxury that makes Vista Aplaya so special. It had a very relaxing atmosphere. Facing the uninterrupted views of the sea, I was instantly switched to vacation mode - which was unfortunate since I was here to work with my team.

Vista Aplaya is still a full service resort, which makes it even better than a house rental. Since we closed down the entire resort, we had our food buffet style for all meals. The food was also not bad. The dining area was an open space on one side of the infinity pool. It was a joy to have breakfast here while watching the lazy sea crash on the shores.

But of course, it was the place to have a drink while watching the sunset. We love the long table just at the edge. With a cold bottle of beer, we watched the amazing Anilao sun and wished it wouldn't set.

Vista Aplaya is not really dirt cheap, but with rooms at P4,000 on the average per night, it is of value already in Anilao. I know I couldn't afford Vivere all the time, so Vista Aplaya is a good second choice. Because of its size as well, it feels more homey and exclusive, something you can't really get from 5-star resorts that easily.
