Agho Island: Concepcion, Iloilo

After working in Malangabang Island, we just had to pass by one of the alluring islands of Concepcion. The nearest to our route was this island.

It is called Agho Island, just one of the several island gems of Concepcion, Iloilo.

Approaching the island was exciting, as we saw a block of white sand that seemed to jut out of the the islands mouth.

The beach was white yet made up of shattered coral. It wasn't hard on the feet though, and it was difficult to walk on the sand, since it was not compact.

The sandbar was quite huge for an island this size. We were told that it was privately owned, so there was a small nipa hut hear the foliage.

It would seem that the sand was just dumped here, since there were moulds of them all around the island.  They created small bays, where the water was shallow and calm, perfect for swimming.

The island also had a great view of Mt. Manaphag from a distance. The water was so calm that it looked like shimmering glass.

Of course, I was disappointed that I couldn't explore the islands of Concepcion more, since we had to drive back to Iloilo City. But with this sneak peek, I would say this group of islands had a lot of potential. Now, I have an alternative to Guimaras, when I am in Iloilo City. It may be more isolated and difficult to go to, but the serenity of 16 island gems sitting elegantly on blue green waters is enough reason for me to go back.

  1. it's nice that you were able to take a glimpse of concepcion.. do go back for
more. besides concepcion, there is also carles.

i notice that you tend to compare & since you've been to caramoan (read it
here), to give you a perspective, caramoan is like carles & concepcion combined.
    :) happy travellin'!
